So long, Sucktober!
It’s Halloween, I’m glad November is tomorrow. I didn’t have any high expectations for Halloween weekend at all. I knew when I missed the Thrillerfest Dance on the 23rd (which I would talk about all the time since 2009) that  my Halloween spirit just wasn’t here this year so no point in trying to force it.  My costume just came to me as I was watching “Lost in Translation”, I was just going to...

Today, we have news that GK Films is developing a feature film based off of Jackson’s iconic music video, Thriller.  The film will be written by Jeremy Garelick (The Hangover) and will focus on “the song’s folklore, involving Vincent Price and the town he grew up in”. Kenny Ortega, who directed Jackson’s posthumous concert film This is It, has signed on to helm the film.

10/24/10 11:54pm (this is not a love poem)
All month Ive been searching for this In the grass and dirt by the river In the company of my closet friends Night after night I searched; I hope to find this moment I had lost knew it existed. Questions and stupidity was all the lingered Between my lips Even biting into the sweetest treat Wasn’t the delight it was once And though the tongue recalled all the same flavors And the nose bought the...

Onehundredflowers is the amazing local Austin band, who I plan dedicate an entire blog to at later date, and the only reason I am bring them up now is because the evening started out with Susan and I at Emo’s for their album release party.                 The band had just finished their set; Susan and I were out back smoking and pretty buzzed when 3 guys just started talking...

Starbucks: Off the Clock, Volume 1
I want to say that the album was release 2008ish, but I could be wrong and I don’t think there were any following volumes released. Anyways, Starbucks had this great idea to release music that was preformed by employees of the company and thus, Off the Clock was born. Why was only one volume released? Who knows, I’ve come to the likely conclusion that too many musicians work for the company;...

Future “Shot in the Dark” maybe?
I pull up to Epoch, which is this local coffee shop on the north side of Austin, to take my test online for school and as I am getting out of my car this Devendra Banhart looking guy waves to me from across the parking lot. I clearly do not know this man (as all my friends live in south Austin or out of town) so I smile at him awkwardly and try to think of a time where I could’ve run into him; a...

"Aubade " by Philip Larkin
I work all day, and get half-drunk at night. Waking at four to soundless dark, I stare. In time the curtain-edges will grow light. Till then I see what’s really always there: Unresting death, a whole day nearer now, Making all thought impossible but how And where and when I shall myself die. Arid interrogation: yet the dread Of dying, and being dead, Flashes afresh to hold and horrify. The...

I feel like I haven’t landed yet. I got sick after ACL, no, not a migraine ( that’s what you’re thinking) but I think the combination of being hot and sweaty during the day then cooling off at night took it’s toll on me. I was sore and achy when I woke up Monday, but I went to work. Tuesday morning I woke up cold, congested, and with a runny nose.             It’s really hard to focus...

Legos and the City!
yourmindblown: Artist Temujin Doran has come up with a super way to advertise the toy brand Lego. He simply takes photos of small Lego figures placed in real-life situations. The interesting part is how he manages to pick the right Lego for the right scene. The fact that he can find an appropriate Lego for almost any situation is a true testament to the vast library of available Legos. - Your...
